Magnificent Magnolia

Hi there lovely people!

I'm back with an elegant card featuring a beautiful magnolia. Our tree in the garden is clinging onto the last few flowers, it's a shame the flowers don't last longer. I'm still enjoying going through my craft stash and using stamps that I haven't used yet or haven't used in a long time.

This magnolia stamp I've had for a while, I think I grabbed it in a sale online.

What you need...

Stamps: Outline Magnolia (CG193) - Hero Arts; Sentiments Stamp (#10105761) - Bo Bunny
Card stock: white, pale pink
Embossing powder: Detail Clear - Stampendous
Ink pad: Onyx Black - Versafine
Copic: Begonia Pink (RV14), Macadamia Nut (YR30)
Promarker: Pale Pink
Gems: clear
Adhesives

What you do...

1 Cover a 12.5cm square blank with a 12cm square of pale pink card.

2 Stamp the magnolia onto white card and cover with the embossing powder, heat to melt.

3 Shade in the magnolia.

4 Cut out the magnolia and stick to the lower right of the blank, overlapping the bottom and right edges. Trim away the excess.

5 Stamp the sentiment in the top left corner. Add a few gems to finish.

I know that the magnolia stamp is no longer available, but this card would look lovely with any large outline flower stamp. I've got a few of these floral outline stamps from Hero Arts in various sizes. They make a beautiful simple and elegant card that is quick to make.

I'm going to say ta ta for now, thank you for stopping by!

That Bites!

Hello lovelies!

Sorry I haven't checked in for a couple of weeks, I've been busy with commissions and we also had a long weekend away. Anyhoo, I'm back now with the card I created for my husband's birthday.

What you need...

Stamps: That Bites (ST-16-17) - Avery Elle; Alphadot - Paper Smooches
Ink pads: Onyx Black - Versafine; Tim Holtz Distress Ink Salty Ocean, Peacock Feathers - Ranger; Emerald Envy - Stampin' Up!
Masking paper: Inkadinkado

What you do...

1 Stamp the fish onto the lower right corner of a piece of white card stock, 9.5cm x 13.5cm.

2 Stamp again onto the masking paper and carefully cut out. Stick onto the original stamped fish,      making sure you line it up perfectly.

3 Rub the surface of the card with a blend of the inks with the colour deeper at the bottom.

4 Peel away the mask. Stamp the age at the top left corner and the 'that bites!' below the fish.

5 Mat the inked panel onto a white top fold 10.5cm x 14.5cm blank.

Needless to say, Simon thought it was great. I had been wanting to get this stamp for quite a while and it always seemed to be out of stock, but I managed to get a set at last. There are still some out there waiting for a new home!

Hope you like my little card, thank you for popping by and I'll see you soon. x

Spiffingly Good Easter

Hello there!

I'm back with the second card I did for Easter. Again this is a remake of a card I did a couple of years ago.

In my last post, I changed the colour scheme of the original card but kept the same layout. With this one I have done the card exactly the same as the original because I just love the colours.

What you need...

Stamps: Claudine Hellmuth Doodles, Claudine Hellmuth Nature - Ranger; Cheree the Chicken - The Rubber Stamp Gallery
Embossing folder: Spots & Dots - Cuttlebug
Card stock: white, lime
Promarkers
Ink pads: Key Lime - VersaMagic; Onyx Black - Versafine
Buttons: orange, pink, yellow
Crochet cotton: white
Adhesives

I have the original card with full instructions here. For the sentiment banner, I created the sentiment on the computer, printed it out and then trimmed into a fish tail banner shape. I recommend printing a full sheet of sentiments, so that you have them to hand for future.

I am loving these bright zingy colours for Easter. This card could also be adapted for a birthday and you could use more muted colours for a male card.

I'm going to sign off now. Thank you for popping by and I'll be back soon with the birthday card I did for my husband Simon.

Easter Eggs

Happy Easter all!

I hope you are having a wonderful time and not getting too overstuffed on chocolate! It has been a very wet Easter here in Norfolk and I suspect much of the UK, at least the snow kept away.

I have been going through some old posts/photos of past makes and decided to revamp/redo some of them. I decided to redo two Easter cards, this being the first one. I did exactly the same layout with stamps but changed the colour scheme.

What you need...

Stamps: Picoti Picota - Artemio; Doodles by Claudine Hellmuth - Ranger
Alcohol markers: Promarkers - Cool Aqua, Ice Grey 1, Lime Green, Magenta, Mandarin
Ink pad: Onyx Black - Versafine
Washi tape: magenta/white dotty
Baker's twine - orange
Easter rub-on sentiment
Adhesives

You can find the original post here with instructions on how to create this little card. Of course you don't have to use the exact same stamps, any chick themed stamps could work. I love the bright zingy colours for Easter, it makes a nice change from the usual pastel shades.

My chicken girlies lay the most lovely pinkish buff or ivory eggs, it would be so much fun if the laid the bright colours on the card. I wouldn't want to crack them open.

Well I'm going to sign off now, enjoy the rest of your Easter and I'll be back soon with the next Easter card. Thanks for stopping by! x

Worm Birthday Wishes

Hello all!

I hope you have all had a good week. I've been busy with magazine work and coming up with some illustrations for a future issue of Crafts Beautiful.

The last card I posted was the birthday fishes using the Birthday Buddies stamp set by Paper Smooches. Well I have another little card created using the same stamp set. This features an adorable little worm popping his head out of the ground.

What you need...

Stamps: Birthday Buddies - Paper Smooches
Card stock: Kraft
Alcohol markers: Copic
Fine liner: black
Gel pen: white
Ink pad: Onyx Black - Versafine

What do you think? I think he's perfect for a male birthday card, especially with the Kraft card blank and the muted colours.

This card is a small one, it measures 8.5cm x 12.5cm (3 3/8" x 5"). As it such an unusual size, it's the perfect opportunity to create a snazzy envelope. I love the We R Memory Keepers Envelope Punch Board.

As I tend to do quite a few unusual sized cards it means I can create the perfect sized envelope. The board has all the measurement printed on it for quick reference and a punch to make professional rounded edges.

I'm going to head off now, I made a brill birthday card for my husband Simon. I keep looking at it and giggling. It's his birthday on Tuesday 27th March, so I'll post it up soon after.

Thank you for popping by, see you soon!

Birthday Fishes

Happy St Patrick's Day my lovelies! I would like to wish June & Stephen a special hello today (your card is on it's way).

One of my fave stamp set brands is Paper Smooches and there is a set that I have had for a while and hadn't got round to using...until now.

What you need...

Stamps: Birthday Buddies - Paper Smooches
Card stock: white, mid aqua
Dies: circle
Alcohol markers: Copic
Ink pad: Onyx Black - Versafine
Gems: clear
White gel pen

This cute set includes some adorable characters such as a gopher, worm, chick, fish and pooch with birthday pun sentiments. There is also a die set available that  co-ordinates with these stamps. Check out the Paper Smooches website for more great stuff.

Sadly the photo makes the aqua of the card stock bluer than it is. I added the smallest star to the top of the fish hats and used the bubbles on the main card highlighted with white gel pen.

I've done another little card using this set, so I'll be back soon to share it with you. Thank you so much for stopping by!

Ball!

Hello peeps!

I have another Christmas card to share with you. Again I have used stamps that I've had for a while. I'm trying not to buy anymore as I have so many that I don't use enough. Of course, being a crafter, if a gorgeous set is released by a manufacturer, I may have to have it :o)

What you need...

Stamps: Snow Day - The Cat's Pajamas
Patterned paper: Fa La La 6x6 Paper Pad - Crate Paper
Dies: circles
Alcohol markers: Copic
Ink pad: Onyx Black - Versafine

I have a couple of stamp sets by this artist from The Cat's Pajamas and it is still available from their website (click here). The other one is the adorable bunny too.

The Fa La La paper pad is full of cute images and patterns with a soft colour palette of pinks, reds, greens and some with gold foiling. Not sure how available this pad is now, but this stamp set would look good with any colour palette.

I hope you are all having a lovely day, thank you for stopping by and see you soon! x

Mother's Day - Lovely Day

Hello peeps!

Happy Mother's Day to all you lovely Mums out there. I am Mum to a cat, chickens and fish :o)

I created this card for my Mum. I was inspired by a card I did sometime ago for one of my Cosmic Colours Challenge. I loved the colours I used and the stamp set by Paper Smooches is just adorable.

Here is my card...

What you need...

Stamps: Blossoming Buds - Paper Smooches
Embossing Folder: Layered Scallops - Echo Park
Card stock: aqua blue, white
Ink pad: Onyx Black - Versafine
Alcohol markers - Copic
Adhesives

The colour scheme I used in the Cosmic Colours Challenge was the Cassis Color by Design Seeds®.

It's so bright, fresh and Spring like, perfect for Mother's Day. I'm sure she'll love it.

Thank you so much for stopping by and I'll be back soon with another cute card.

Snow Happy!

Hello there peeps!

As you may know, I'm trying to make a stock of Christmas cards throughout the year, as I always run out of time when it gets nearer to Christmas.

There is a cute little stamp that I've had for a couple of years and have never got round to using it (I can't be the only one who buys stamps when they see them in case they run out of stock/get discontinued).

What you need...

Stamps: Frostier (KS207) - Stamping Bella; Believe in the Magic (CD001) - Your Next Stamp
Patterned Paper: Sugar Plum 6x6 Paper Pad - My Mind's Eye
Ink pad: Tuxedo Black - Memento
Alcohol markers: Copics
Coloured Pencils: Polychromos - Faber-Castell
Ribbon

I coloured the base colour on the image with Copics and then added the shading and highlights with pencils and blended. I tried to match the colours of the image with the beautiful colours of the paper.

I hope you like this cute little card, I  thought the snow was apt after the weather we've had lately!

Thank you for stopping by, see you soon! x
